This is a position that requires self-motivation, strong organization and flexibility to meet the needs of the company. This opportunity requires a strong foundation in applied epidemiology, robust information technology skills, fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel), SharePoint (or similar document management software) and MS Project (or similar software). The position requires careful and thoughtful problem solving skills, as well as diplomacy.
As a leader of the scientific team, this role will oversee and manage a variety of client based clinical analysis projects. Critical skills for this position are the ability to understand the scope and deliverables of a project and to prepare a project plan, timeline and budget. The Research Scientist will be responsible for day-to-day management of all aspects of biostatistical queries for the subscribers within his or her portfolio. This may include assistance in framing research questions, abstract preparation, management of the publication process and manuscript development, management of staff assigned to the projects, documentation and quality control. Co-authorship on publications (abstracts and manuscripts) is expected with this position.
Serve as lead for subscriber and investigator teleconferences and meetings directly related to research queries.
Write scientific interpretation of report and participate in the development of SAPs (statistical analysis plans).
Understand and manage the requirements and capabilities of the scientific team and effectively coordinate projects for on-time deliverables to subscribers.
Oversee development of project timelines, procedures, forms and tracking systems.
Ensure compliance with accepted scientific methods and standards.
Maintain project documentation, track progress on projects, and work with principal investigators to overcome barriers.
Interact on a regular basis with the Finance team for questions about billing.
Review data for quality control.
Ensure reports receive medical review when required.
Facilitate meetings and project conference calls; plan agenda and lead meetings, ensure that minutes are taken, edited and distributed.
- Participate in the preparation of literature reviews, proposals, manuscripts, project reports, presentations of study design and findings, and toolkits for dissemination.
- As required, Research Scientist will represent the company at client meetings, professional meetings, and symposia.
Skills and Qualifications:
Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), MS in Biostatistics or Epidemiology or equivalent is required.
Should have 3 years of experience as a project manager for relevant medical, public health, or similar research (academic research setting preferred) and at least one year of personnel management experience
Experience developing research ideas and interpreting output from statistical analyses is required.
Experience with medical literature databases (Pubmed, Ovid)and qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Experience in the area of arthritis, psoriasis, or other inflammatory conditions is highly desirable.
Experience with medical writing is highly required
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills
Must possess strong English communication and writing skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team
Requires a strong working knowledge of MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, MS Project, and SharePoint.
Experience in data analysis (SAS, STATA, SPSS, or equivalent) and manuscript preparation and knowledge of database programs (ACCESS or equivalent) are desirable.
Additional duties may be assigned, either temporary or permanent based upon company needs.
Complete CITI GCP training.
Required participation in a variety of weekly conference calls and occasional in-person meetings.
Reporting to: Director of Epidemiology / by project to various Principal Investigators.
Prefer individual located in Houston, TX or Waltham, MA area, but not required.
